Medical & Psychiatric Institute of Florida, Inc. is an academic outpatient psychiatric practice headquartered at 721 Beville Road, South Daytona, FL 32119, serving South Daytona, Daytona Beach, DeLand, Orange City, New Smyrna Beach, Palm Coast and the surrounding counties of Florida.
The practice has been led continuously since July 2015 by Asad H. Khan, M.D., FASAM, a board-certified psychiatrist, addiction medicine specialist and fellowship-trained forensic psychiatrist who also holds academic faculty appointments at Florida State University College of Medicine and West Virginia University School of Medicine.
MPI Florida operates as a multidisciplinary clinical team — psychiatrist-led, supported by psychiatric nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers and dedicated patient care staff.

MPI Florida operates under a physician-directed clinical governance model with documented protocols spanning patient access, controlled-substance safety, documentation compliance and continuous quality improvement, with strict adherence to American Psychiatric Association guidelines.
Controlled-substance & medication safety
- Detailed substance use disorder assessment
- Medication-assisted treatments and detoxification
- Baseline and routine labs (CBC, CMP, thyroid panel, lipid panel, urinalysis, urine drug screen, EKG)
- Lithium, Depakote & Tegretol trough levels monitored closely
- Suboxone REMS and Clozapine REMS protocols with registry enrollment and lab monitoring
- Regular prescription drug monitoring program (E-FORCSE) review for all patients
Documentation & regulatory compliance
- Same-day completion and scanning of medical records and progress notes
- Documentation aligned with CMS Evaluation & Management guidelines and current CPT / ICD-10 coding standards
- Participation in HEDIS, MIPS and MACRA quality reporting programs
